How to Properly Store Your Cigar
We will assume that you just bought your first cigar as you are reading this post. Congratulations! You just got home, and you are not sure where to store your cigar. Leaving your cigar on the shelf when you come in will make your cigar lose its freshness and flavor which could end up as a waste of money. Cigars will dry out quickly or absorb too much moisture in overly humid places.
Smoking a cigar that has not been stored properly will provide an unpleasant experience and leave a sour taste in your mouth. A cigar needs to be stored at a proper temperature to allow good combustion of the tobacco.
You should consider two things to maintain the optimal temperature and humidity of your cigar:
Temperature and Humidity – Regularly monitoring the temperature and humidity of your humidor is very important. You need to ensure that the humidity and temperature is at the optimal level at all times if you want to keep your cigars stored for a long period of time. So, what is the optimal level? We recommend you keep your humidor at 70% humidity and a temperature of 70 Fahrenheit. This will prevent the cigar’s wrapper from getting moldy or cracked.
Humidors and Humidifiers – A humidor is a humidity-controlled box or room used primarily for storing cigars. A regular humidor can store on average 25 to 100 cigars at a time. The humidity inside the box can be controlled with a humidifier. The humidifier will add moisture inside the humidor so that the cigars can stay in perfect condition.
These two steps above will ensure that your cigar will remain in perfect condition until you decide to smoke your cigar. We offer at the King Cigar Lounge the best selection of cigars in Los Angeles and we recommend you come see us!
